Although their meeting at UFC 307 got canceled, Aljamain Sterling and Movsar Evloev will still meet in the octagon. The UFC confirmed that the matchup between the talented featherweights will now go down at UFC 310.

Sterling reacted to the re-booking on social media, saying he is "glad" to still be facing Evloev. The former bantamweight champion referred to his current injury as a "small setback" that he is hardly concerned about.

Sterling tweeted:

"I'm glad I still have this great test in front of me. Small setback but we will do the man dance soon!"

Both fighters are undefeated in the UFC featherweight division with Evloev being 8-0 since 2019 and Sterling going 1-0 since moving up from bantamweight. With the shape of the current title picture, an impressive performance could earn the winner a title fight.

UFC 310 is scheduled for December and is still without a main event but has been slowly getting built up by the promotion. The heavyweight rematch between Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov, which is also a postponed fight, was additionally confirmed on the card on Sept. 27.

Aljamain Sterling's championship career

While Aljamain Sterling does not have the featherweight resume to match Movsar Evloev, 'The Funk Master' is widely recognized as one of the greatest bantamweights of all time. Before moving up to the 145-pound division, Sterling served as the UFC bantamweight champion from 2021 to 2023.

Although he won the title anticlimactically, he defended the belt three times against former champions Petr Yan, TJ Dillashaw and Henry Cejudo before losing it to Sean O'Malley at UFC 292.

Upon moving up to his current weight class, Sterling dispatched Calvin Kattar at UFC 300 in arguably the most dominant performance of the historic fight card. The 35-year-old called for a title shot after the win but instead received the unenviable matchup against the undefeated Evloev.
