New Zealand cricketers Trent Boult, Tom Latham, and Mitchell Santner reacted to the 'intense' moves by Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) stars in a video shared ahead of the PKL 2024 season, which is set to begin on October 18.

Ahead of their ongoing Test series against India, the New Zealand cricketers took a break from cricket to react to the intense action of kabaddi in a video shared by Star Sports.

The Kiwis, currently playing a three-match Test series against India, made headlines for their remarkable performance on Day 2 of the first Test in Bengaluru, where they bowled India out for just 46 runs.

However, before the match, Boult, Latham, and Santner took some time to react to the high-octane sport of kabaddi.

When asked for his first impressions of kabaddi, Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santneramusingly admitted:

"I have the squirmyness for kabaddi but not the strength."

Fast bowler Trent Boult revealed that he had watched kabaddi before and admired the physical demands of the game.

"I’ve watched it a couple of times. You should be quite strong, especially with strong legs," Boult said.

New Zealand captain Tom Latham was intrigued by the physicality of kabaddi, though he confessed to not knowing the rules well.

"I am not 100% sure of the rules, but it looks like a very physical game. Maybe similar to rugby, with guys teaming up on one guy to stop him from crossing the line," Latham said.

"He’s got a good strong core and big legs" - New Zealand cricketers reveal which of their teammates would be good kabaddi players

The New Zealand cricketing trio didn’t shy away from speculating which of their teammates might excel in kabaddi. When asked about who they thought would perform well in the sport, they offered some interesting answers.

Mitchell Santner humorously suggested that Lockie Ferguson would be a great fit.

"You need to be agile but also strong so you won’t be trampled, or you’ll get smashed. Maybe Lockie Ferguson. He’s got a good strong core and big legs. Or maybe even me!" said Santner.

Tom Latham threw Glenn Phillips' name into the mix, describing him as a "powerful pocket rocket."

Trent Boult had his own picks.

"I have to say Daryl Mitchell and Tim Southee would be the two guys," Boult said.
