The first season of the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League (UPKL 2024) is all set to begin on Thursday, July 11, and conclude on July 25. All matches of the tournament will be hosted at the Noida Indoor Stadium in Uttar Pradesh.
Awadh Ramdoots will look to have an impressive season under the guidance of head coach Jitendra Yadav. They will bank on the likes of Abhishek Singh, Amit Nagar, Ashu Singh, and Aashish Nagar, among many others to deliver in the maiden UPKL season.
Ashu Singh was roped in for ₹1.5 lakhs at the Uttar Pradesh Kabaddi League 2024 auction. He carries ample experience on his back, having played for the U.P. Yoddhas in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
Singh made his PKL debut in 2019 with the Yoddhas and has been part of the Uttar Pradesh-based franchise for four consecutive seasons. The defender has raked up 166 points from 87 matches over the years in the PKL.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Singh will hold the key for the team, having impressed fans with his performance in the previous editions of the Pro Kabaddi League. He made his PKL debut in 2018 for U Mumba and served the club for three years.
In Season 9, he represented the Telugu Titans and was part of the Bengaluru Bulls circuit in the 10th edition of the league. Overall, he has earned 457 points from 78 matches, including 445 raid points and 12 take points.
Aashish Nagar has represented U.P. Yoddhas in three seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League. He played for the club between 2018 and 2021 but wasn't at his best, having bagged only a point from five outings.
Amit Nagar, on the other hand, made his PKL debut with the Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL Season 4. He returned to the league in PKL Season 6 with the Bengal Warriors and re-joined the Pink Panthers for another stint in PKL Season 8.
Nagar has earned 32 points (23 raid points and nine tackle points) from 19 matches across three seasons in the Pro Kabaddi League.
