Patna Pirates have officially announced Shubham Shinde as their captain for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11, which is set to commence on October 18. In addition to naming Shubham as captain, the Pirates have appointed Ankit as the vice-captain, forming an intriguing corner combination, with Shubham in the right corner and Ankit in the left.
For Shubham Shinde, this marks a return to Patna Pirates, having previously played for them in PKL Season 8 before spending the last two seasons with Bengal Warriorz. Shubham had an impressive run with the Warriorz, amassing 62 tackle points in 22 games during PKL 10, with an average of 2.82 tackle points per match. This season, the 26-year-old defender will face the added responsibility of leading his team as captain, making it his first stint in a leadership role in the PKL.
On the other hand, Ankit, who made his PKL debut last season with the Pirates, had an outstanding performance in PKL 10. He accumulated 66 tackle points in 23 games, with an average of 2.87 per match. Despite his relative inexperience with just one season under his belt, Patna Pirates have placed their trust in him by elevating him to the role of vice-captain.
The Pirates are the most successful team in PKL history, having won three back-to-back titles in Seasons 3, 4, and 5. As they head into PKL 11, the team will be striving to capture their fourth championship title under the leadership of Shubham Shinde and Ankit.
