Fazel Atrachali is the most successful defender in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) history. In 169 games, Atrachali has garnered 486 tackle points, with 28 super tackles and 29 High 5s.

The veteran defender will represent the Bengal Warriors in the PKL 2024 season. The franchise secured his services by signing him for an amount of ₹50 lakh in the auction conducted in August. The 32-year-old was also announced as the captain of the side for the ongoing season.

Interestingly, Atrachali is the most successful captain in PKL history, with 70 wins to his name. In the past, he has led teams like U Mumba, Puneri Paltan, and Gujarat Giants. The last edition saw the Iranian leading the Giants to the playoffs, before they were beaten 25-42 by the Haryana Steelers. Meanwhile, he earned 62 tackle points in 23 games, with a success rate of 48%.

Atrachali has secured title victories on two occasions with U Mumba and Patna Pirates. Moreover, he is only one of three defenders in the tournament's history to clinch the Defender of the Tournament award twice.

Fazel Atrachali's Bengal Warriors to kickstart PKL 11 campaign on October 20

The Fazel Atrachali-led side will begin their Pro Kabaddi League 2024 campaign on Sunday (October 20) against Jaipur Pink Panthers.

The last edition saw the Bengal Warriors finish seventh on the points table with nine victories in 22 appearances. The franchise brought back veteran raider Maninder Singh to the setup, shelling out ₹1.15 crore in the PKL 2024 auction for him. With the presence of Atrachali and Maninder, the Warriors have an experienced line-up, which will help them calm their nerves in crunch moments.

Meanwhile, the other key players for the team are vice-captain Nitesh Kumar and Nitin Kumar. Notably, Nitesh recorded 100 tackle points in the sixth season, the most by any player in a single PKL edition.
