UP Yoddhas have named star raider Surender Gill as their new skipper ahead of Pro Kabaddi 2024. This will be the first time Gill captains the Yoddhas in the league, having joined the franchise back in 2019.

Gill has been one of the top raiders for the UP Yoddhas in the franchise's PKL history. He has played 65 matches and earned 510 points, recording 20 Super 10s while also executing 19 super raids.

Last year, Pardeep Narwal captained the UP Yoddhas, but the team could not qualify for the playoffs. It was the first time in PKL history that the Yoddhas participated in the league and did not finish in the Top 6.

Hence, the team management made some big changes to the squad, releasing skipper Pardeep Narwal, along with former captain Nitesh Kumar. Fans were excited to see whom the Yoddhas would appoint as their new leader, and they made the following announcement on Instagram earlier today (Tuesday, October 1):

It will be interesting to see how Gill performs in his new role. Also, all eyes will be on his fitness because he has missed many matches due to injuries in the past.

Who are the vice-captains of UP Yoddhas in Pro Kabaddi 2024?

Interestingly, the Uttar Pradesh-based franchise have decided to appoint two players as deputies to Surender Gill. The first vice-captain of the Yoddhas for PKL 11 is their left corner defender Sumit Sangwan, who has been with the team for a long time now. Right cover defender Ashu Singh has been named as the second vice-captain of the team.

Three of Yoddhas' most experienced players will lead the squad in PKL 11. The team management will hope that the franchise wins the title for the first time under the guidance of Gill, Sumit, and Ashu. The Yoddhas will play their first match against Dabang Delhi KC on October 21.
