Jaipur Pink Panthers, the two-time PKL champions, retained a total of five players ahead of the PKL 2024 Auction. In the last season, the team made the cut to the semi-final but failed to qualify for the final after losing to Haryana Steelers by 27-31.
The franchise’s think tank is expected to bring up significant changes, aimed at enhancing the team’s chances of winning the title. Notably, the Jaipur-based franchise secured titles in both the first and ninth editions.
All the franchises managed to retain their strong core across three categories, namely elite retained players, retained young players, and existing new young players. A total of 88 players have been retained among three categories by the 12 franchises ahead of the PKL 2024 Auction.
Jaipur Pink Panthers went on to retain their star raider Arjun Deshwal and their defender from Iran, Reza Mirbagheri, in the Elite Retained Players list.
Arjun Deshwal played a pivotal role in propelling the side to the knockouts, amassing 276 raid points, including 17 Super 10s. On the other hand, Mirbagheri accumulated a total of 64 points with 60 tackle points, including nine super tackles.
In the Retained Young Players list, the Jaipur-based franchise retained the services of Ankush and Abhishek KS while Abhijeet Malik has been retained in the Existing New Young Players list.
A total of 14 players have been released by the franchise, including their skipper Sunil Kumar. With the Final Bid Match option or FBM option available, the franchises will use the option to retain some of the released players during the auction.
The upcoming edition’s player pool will consist of 500+ players including the 24 players from the two finalists of the Khelo India University Games 2024. The total salary purse available for each franchise is INR 5 crore.
