As India prepares to celebrate its 78th Independence Day, Jaideep Dahiya from the Haryana Steelers has expressed his excitement about the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 11 Player Auction, which coincides with this significant national celebration. Scheduled for August 15-16, 2024, in Mumbai, the auction will see over 500 players vying for a place in the upcoming season.

Dahiya, who also serves as a Physical Training (PT) Officer in the Navy, shared his enthusiasm about the auction’s timing.

“There is a lot of excitement ahead of the auction. We are looking to add young and dynamic players to our squad and we aim to lift the trophy this season,” he stated in a Press Release.

Reflecting on the significance of the auction date, he added:

“It will be great to see PKL Auction being held on Independence Day as a Fauji.”

Kabaddi, a sport that resonates deeply with many Indians, is often seen as a symbol of strength, unity, and national pride. Jaideep Dahiya acknowledged the sport’s growing popularity and its impact on the national consciousness.

“We have won gold in the Kabaddi World Cup and Asian Games. The sport has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years, and the game has changed significantly. It is getting a lot of attention from the audience,” he remarked.

Dahiya’s comments reflect the patriotic spirit that unites the country as it celebrates both its independence and its sporting achievements.

“Kabaddi is not just a game; it embodies the resilience and valour of our country," he emphasized.

Jaideep Dahiya says Haryana Steelers are ready for PKL 11

Regarding the Haryana Steelers' preparations for the new season, Jaideep Dahiya noted that the players are training hard for the upcoming season. He said:

“We have been training hard and rigorously. Once our squad is finalized with new players, our franchise will hold a training camp to ensure we are ready for Season 11.”

Haryana Steelers finished fifth in the league stage last season and made it to the playoffs. They beat the Gujarat Giants in the Eliminator in a one-sided affair. Further, they went on to beat the Jaipur Pink Panthers in the second semi-final.

Unfortunately, however, they lost a closely contested final at the hands of eventual champions Puneri Paltan. This time around, they will be keen to go the distance and lift the PKL trophy.

As the Pro Kabaddi League gears up for another thrilling season, the convergence of the auction with Independence Day only adds to the excitement.
