The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) defending champions, Puneri Paltan are preparing to make history as they eye a second consecutive title in the upcoming 11th season. With the tournament set to begin on October 18, the team is gearing up to prove that last season’s triumph was not a one-off.

Aslam Inamdar, Puneri Paltan's captain, is confident that his side can replicate their success and retain the title, something only Patna Pirates have managed in PKL history.

Inamdar recently shared his thoughts in an interview with Sportskeeda, expressing his belief that Puneri Paltan are well-equipped to defend their crown. Although there is pressure to defend the title, Inamdar is convinced that his team's camaraderie and balance across raiding and defense give them an edge going into PKL 11.

"There is no such big challenge for us that we have to do something different. Except Mohammadreza Shadloo, all of us practice together throughout the year. We live together and that is why our combination is very good. Apart from this, we know each other very well, this is the most important thing in Kabaddi. If every player gives his 100 percent, then once again we can win the PKL 11 trophy. Both our defense and raiding departments are very good. We have all kinds of raiders. I think this time we will be able to defend the trophy," he said.

Puneri Paltan's strong line-up and title defense strategy

Puneri Paltan’s remarkable performance in the 10th season of PKL saw them clinch their first-ever title, with key contributions from players across the board. One of their standout players was Iranian defender Mohammadreza Shadloo, who emerged as the best defender of the season.

However, Shadloo will not be part of Puneri Paltan in PKL 11 as he has been signed by the Haryana Steelers. Despite Shadloo's departure, Inamdar remains confident that his team will not be significantly affected.

Shadloo played a pivotal role in Pune’s success last season, and his release has raised questions. However, Inamdar believes that the team’s depth will allow them to compensate for the Iranian star’s departure. He emphasized the importance of giving confidence to his players, which he believes will help them perform at their best.

"We have taken 3-4 players to replace Shadlu and we will play the players who fit our combination. I don't think we will miss him. We are going to give our players full confidence that you give your 100 percent and no one will put pressure on you. If the player gives his all and plays freely, then his performance will also be good," he concluded.
