Delhi State Kabaddi Association announces launch of Delhi Kabaddi League

The Delhi State Kabaddi Association have announced the launch of the inaugural Delhi Kabaddi League on Saturday (July 6). They hosted a press conference in the capital city to announce the newly launched league.

The inaugural edition of the Delhi Kabaddi League will have eight franchise-based teams. The teams will be named after various regions in the capital city. Experienced and young kabaddi players from Delhi can sign up for the tournament and be a part of the league.

Speaking about the inaugural Delhi Kabaddi League, Ramesh Bidhuri was quoted as saying to reporters at the press conference:

“Kabaddi is one of the oldest sports in India, and we are excited to launch the Delhi Kabaddi League, which will bring this beloved game to new heights in our capital city.”

The prize pool for the Delhi Kabaddi League is INR 10 lakh. The winners will receive INR 5 lakh, while the runners-up will receive a cash prize of INR 3 lakh. Meanwhile, the two semi-finalists will receive INR 1 lakh each as prize.


Who is the brand ambassador of the Delhi Kabaddi League?

Delhi Kabaddi League have announced former Pro Kabaddi League player Manjeet Chhillar as their brand ambassador. Chhillar retired from PKL in 2021 after playing for five franchises across eight seasons.

He played the first couple of seasons with Bengaluru Bulls and the next two seasons with Puneri Paltan. The Indian all-rounder represented Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL Season 5 and played for Tamil Thalaivas in seasons 6 & 7.

In his last season, he was part of the Dabang Delhi K.C. squad. Overall, he played 132 matches and earned 616 points.

“I am honoured to be chosen as the brand ambassador of the Delhi Kabaddi League. I will do my utmost to promote the game of Kabaddi and contribute to its growth and success,” Manjeet Chhillar told reporters during the press conference in Delhi.
