Mohammedan Sporting Club have officially announced the departure of attacking midfielder Samuel Lalmuanpuia. The 25-year-old joined the club in September 2023 from Punjab FC. He was a part of Punjab FC's 2022-23 I-League winning squad.

Last season, he featured in 11 matches for Mohammedan throughout the I-League season in which he registered two goals and an assist.

Samuel Lalmuanpuia, who began his career with Shillong Lajong FC, has also represented Minerva Punjab FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Odisha FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, and Aizawl FC in his career so far.

The Mizoram-based player lifted his second successive I-League title last season as Mohammedan Sporting Club emerged winners of the 2023-24 edition.

Mohammedan Sporting Club will be hoping to make a mark in their debut ISL campaign

The Kolkata giants created history as they became only the second club ever to earn promotion to the ISL after Punjab FC. With 52 points from 24 matches, they finished the 2023-24 I-League on top of the table. Sreenidi Deccan came second having finished with 48 points.

The upcoming 2024-25 season will be Mohammedan Sporting Club's debut ISL campaign and they will be hoping to make a mark in the top division of Indian football. So far, they have made four domestic signings, bringing in Tangva Ragui, Sajal Bag, Ashley Alban Koli, and Salman Faris. Apart from Samuel Lalmuanpuia, there have been some notable exits which include Evgeniy Kozlov, Eddie Hernandez, David Lalhlansanga, Karandeep, James Kithan, and Laishram Bedashwor Singh.

Mohammedan will begin the new season with their 2024 Durand Cup Group B fixture against Inter Kashi FC at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Sunday, July 28. Their group also comprises Indian Navy FT and Bengaluru FC. Last year, they failed to qualify for the knockouts in the Durand Cup having finished with six points from three group-stage matches.
