FC Goa have officially announced the signing of young Indian defender Sanatomba Singh Yanglem on a multi-year deal. The talented 18-year-old fullback is a graduate of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) Academy whom he has represented in 42 matches.

During his time at RFYC, Sanatomba registered four assists and was involved in 18 clean sheets. In addition to being a part of the victorious RFYC squad that went on to clinch the 2018-19 Sub-Junior I-League title, he also finished as runner-up with his team during the 2022-23 MFA (Mumbai Football Association) Super Division.

Speaking about the youngster's signing, an RFYC spokesperson heaped praise on FC Goa for providing a great platform for talented young footballers at the highest level. He said in a statement:

"FC Goa provides a great platform for young footballers to hone their craft at the highest level. We are proud of Sanatomba Singh for making this step in his young career. We look forward to seeing him perform and shine on the biggest stage."

Apart from acquiring the services of Rowllin Borges and Mohammad Yasir on a permanent deal, the Gaurs have made some good signings ahead of the 2024-25 season. They have roped in goalkeeper Lara Sharma, defenders Aakash Sangwan and Muhammad Hammad, midfielders Iker Guarrotxena and Dejan Drazic, and forward Alan Saji.

Excited about the new opportunity, an elated Sanatomba Singh Yanglem expressed his thoughts about what it means to him to have joined a top-tier club in Indian football. Opening up about the challenges that lie ahead upon joining a star-studded team as a young player, Sanatomba Singh said in a statement:

"I am delighted to sign with FC Goa. Honestly, I did not expect an opportunity of this level – joining the First Team of one of the great clubs in India, with such a supportive environment. As a young player, I understand the challenges ahead in matching the levels of my more experienced teammates. However, this is the essence of football, and I am committed to my development, seeking guidance from both coaches and players."

He also asserted that FC Goa is the right place to develop himself and take his career to the next level. Stating that he has two seniors Aakash Sangwan and Jay Gupta in his position to look up to, Sanatomba revealed his eagerness to work under head coach Manolo Marquez. He said:

"I believe FC Goa is the perfect place for my growth. This team is renowned for nurturing young talent and helping them achieve their potential. In my position as a left-back, I have two seniors, Aakash Sangwan and Jay Gupta, to look up to and learn from. Additionally, I am eager to work with the coaching staff, especially Coach Manolo, who has a reputation for significantly impacting young players. I aspire to be one of those players."

Manolo Marquez's men will begin the new season with their 2024 Durand Cup Group F fixture against Hyderabad FC in Shillong on August 5. Their group also comprises Shillong Lajong FC and Tribhuvan Army FC.
