Can the higher-ranked Uzbekistan upset India yet again?

While India are currently ranked 66th in the FIFA Women's World Rankings, Uzbekistan are in the 48th spot. When these two sides last met in November 2023 during the AFC Women's Olympic Qualifiers Round 2 clash, it was Uzbekistan who emerged victorious having defeated the Blue Tigresses 3-0 at home in Tashkent.

Meanwhile, the Indian Women's Football team's previous International assignment was the 2024 Turkish Women's Cup which was held in the city of Alanya in February this year. The four-nation tournament also comprised Hong Kong, Estonia, and Kosovo. With three wins in as many matches, Kosovo clinched the title while India finished second with two victories in three games.

Despite defeating Estonia and Hong Kong, India had to settle for a runner-up finish due to their 1-0 loss in the third and final encounter against Kosovo.
