The first day of Hockey India League 2024 (HIL) men's player auction was a riveting watch. A total of eight teams battled it out with all their brainpower and strategies to build a solid squad. There was some tension in the air as the team owners were on their toes trying to stick to their plans.

While some plans worked out well, there were certain strategies that fell flat. Almost every team managed to grab certain players who they had targetted pre-auction. However, there were also certain players who they were unable to capture owing to the uncertain dynamic of such an auction.
