The Hockey India League 2024 (HIL) is back in all its glory after a seven-year long hiatus. The league was previously played for five years before being discontinued in 2017. Having served as a breeding ground in the past, for numerous talented players, the HIL is all set to enthral fans yet again.
The much anticipated tournament will kickstart in Delhi with a grand player auction. The upcoming 2024-25 season will also be the start of new beginnings. For the first time, the HIL will feature both the men's and women's leagues, which will run simultaneously.
Over 1000 players from around the globe will be going under the hammer at the mega auction. The best of Indian as well as International talent will be up for grabs. While eight men's teams will be vying to rack up a solid squad, six women's teams will be participating in the auction.
Here is a detailed look at how the Hockey India League 2024 auction will pan out.
Hockey India League 2024 Auction: Dates and time (in IST)
The Hockey India League auction will be held in Delhi from October 13 to 15. While the men's auction will be conducted on October 13th and October 14th, the women's will be on October 15th. The timings are as follows:
Sunday, October 13: 2:30 PM onwards
Monday, October 14: 10:00 AM onwards
Tuesday, October 15: 10:00 AM onwards
Hockey India League 2024 Auction: Players to watch out for
When it comes to the men's auction, over 400 domestic and 150 overses players will be featuring. Whereas, over 250 domestic and 70 overseas women's players will be going under the hammer.

Hockey India League 2024 Auction: Categories and base price
The Hockey India League 2024 auction will see the players being divided into three base price categories. Rs 2 lakh, Rs 5 lakh, and Rs 10 lakh are the three categories. A player's base price is based on the value they have selected for themselves.
Each team's squad should consist of 24 players which will include 16 domestic and 8 international's. The 16 Indian players must also include a minimum of four domestic players who are of the age of 21 and below.
Hockey India League 2024 Auction: Total team purse
The total team purse for the men's team is Rs 4 crore and for the women's team it is Rs. 2 crore.
