The Carmel Sports Committee is pleased to announce the start of the Mt. Carmel Rink Hockey Tournament 2011 at the Carmel Church Quadrangle in Bandra West. The tournament, which runs from 25th-29th May 2011, will feature 32 teams across 3 different categories viz. Men’s (16 teams), Women’s (8 teams) and School Boys (8 teams).
The matches will be held in a Knock-out format at the flood lit courts of the Mt. Carmel Church Quadrangle. This tournament is very unique in its location and music at all intervals, entertainment acts and commentary adds to the excitement and attracts thousands of fans every year. Rink Hockey is very popular among the hockey loving public of Bandra and the tournament promises plenty on thrills, spills, action and goals galore. 320 players will be displaying their skills in the shorter format of the game which is a total of 20 minutes per match for the School boys, 24 minutes for the Women and 30 minutes for the Men.
In the Men’s Some of the top teams in Mumbai like Air-India, RCF, Central Railway, Mumbai Customs etc will be participating in the tournament. Club teams like Sea-View, Companeroes Grassroots, Abhi Foundation will also get an opportunity to rub shoulders with the big boys and cause an upset or two.
