y India had decided to hold elections in the first week of July but sports ministry has asked them not to hold election after the ruling of Delhi High Court. Sports ministry wants to discuss the matter with the Ministry of Law and then only take a decision to hold the elections.

This comes after secretry of Hockey India claimed that FIH recognizes it was the sole representative of hockey of the country.

According to a letter written by the FIH Secretary General to Narinder Batra, ‘Hockey India is and remains the sole governing body for hockey, men and women, in India and thereafter Hockey India is administered in accordance with its statutes as approved by the FIH’. ‘The interests of FIH are to see Hockey India fully constituted and operating in accordance with its statutes so that the sport in India will develop and flourish. FIH has no desire to penalise anyone, least of all the players or the country’.

Indian hockey administration has not been functioning properly since it was formed and now the recent court judgment in the favor of IHF has added more problems of running of hockey.

But in-spite of all this performance of team on the field has been good. Men’s team recently defended their Sultan Azlan Shah title while women’s team has won test series agains New Zealand.
