The day 1 of the Hockey India League 2024 (HIL) men's player auction ended up being a mixed bag. While there were numerous players who took home hefty contracts, there were also those who could not find themselves any bids. A total of 18 players went unsold on the first day of the auction.

Several domestic as well as international players went under the hammer in Delhi on Sunday (October 13). The list included many top Indian and foreign players as well as several young and upcoming names. While the list of those sold was long, Some players going unsold surely raised eyebrows.

There were quite a few international names who went unsold to the surprise of many. Assumably, some teams did not bid for those players due to their auction strategies. Whereas others may have been left out with the teams feeling that they had better domestic options to pick from.
