First Madhya Pradesh now Karnataka, love of hockey seems to be growing though slowly but effectively. Karnataka government is hosting a Chief Minister Cup on the newly laid synthetic turf. And the thing which makes this tournament good one is that this tournament has has biggest prize money for a domestic tournament Rs.20 lacs.

First it was Madya Pradesh who set the tone for revival of the national national game with Obaidullah Cup now it is followed by Chief Minister Cup in Bangalore. CM Cup will begin on 12th and will end on 20th of this month. Another great thing about this tournament is that all the matches will be telecast live on Doordarshan. There will be 8 teams participating in this tournament

The highlight of the event is the prize money bonanza. The winners will talk away with a cash prize of Rs.6,00,000 while Runner ups will get Rs.4,00,000, and Rs.2,00,000 for 3rd Place and Rs.1,00,000 for 4th place. In addition to the above, each team will be paid an appearance money of Rs.1,25,000.

The Hockey lovers of Bangalore and the whole will thus have an opportunity to see the best players of the country exhibit their skills on the newly laid surface.

First MP, then a local league in Vadodara and now Karnataka. The interest in the game in India is slowly increasing which is very good news for hockey. Steps like these are very important if the nation wants to revive the game.
