Big win for Indian Oil

Chennai, Sep 9 - Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) chalked up their second win in Group B with a 15-3 rout of local challengers Integral Coach Factory in the 87th MCC-Murugappa Gold Cup All-India hockey tournament here Sunday.

For IOC, Deepak Thakur (3), VR Raghunath (2), Prabhjot Singh (2), Roshan Minz (2), Thimmana (1), Vikas Sharma (1), Vikram Kanth (1), Dharamveer Singh (1), Sunil Yadav (1) and Didar Singh (1) scored while ICF’s strikes came from M Iyappan, (2) and S Vivek (1).

In other matches, Defending champions ONGC, who trailed 1-3 at once stage, drew 3-3 with Punjab National Bank and Army XI also shared six goals with BPCL.

Sunil Ekka (2) and Muthanna (1) scored for Army, while Amir Khan (2) and Ravipal Singh, who scored in the 68th minute, kept BPCL afloat.

Preetinder Singh, Gurvinder Singh and Diwakara were ONGC’s goal-getters and PNB replied through Bruno Logun, Jitender Saroha and Navdeep Singh.
