Bengaluru Cup hockey 2015: Haryana eves and Central Railways win on day 1

Haryana’s Shilpi Dabas scored the first goal of the tournament at the 16th minute. This was followed by the 2nd & 3rd goals post half time at the 61st & 68th minute by Devika Sen & Pinki respectively. It was a nervy start for both teams but Haryana settled into the game quicker & were able to control large periods of play. Haryana came out on top 3-0.

Home team Karnataka XI faced team Central Railways in their opening match, and had to defend stoutly. Karnataka XI lead the first few minutes of the game & Pooja MD had the crowd cheering with a swift goal in the 3rd minute (as field goal) which was followed by another spectacular goal in the 15th minute (from the penalty corner) by Sushma CG.

Central Railway launched an attack & followed right behind with a goal in the 19th minute (as field goal) by Kavita Vidyarthi & another one in the 23rd minute (from the penalty corner) by Sandeep Kaur. The 27th minute (from the penalty corner) saw another sharp goal by Ranjita Sanasam from CR.

The second half did not witness any more goals, but was a nail biting battle which saw the Karnataka XI girls fight really hard till the last couple of seconds, but victory on CR’s side.

Two green cards were issued to two players from the Karnataka XI team- Kaveramma. AH (22nd minute) and Rashmi PP (47th minute). One green card was issued to team CR as well- R Sarita Minz (63rd minute)
