Following an incredible win at the 2024 Open Championship, Xander Schauffele is hoping to earn USA a gold medal at the Paris Olympics this week. The 30-year-old claimed his second Major championship title in a single season by defeating Justin Rose and Billy Horschel by two strokes at the legendary Royal Troon course.

Xander Schauffele not only got to hold the prestegious Claret Jug trophy, but he also walked away with a grand cheque worth $3.1 million and 750 FedEx Cup points besides earning the title of 'Championship Golfer of the Year'. The 9-time PGA Tour winner spoke candidly in an interwiew with the Tour about his experience at Royal Troon.

The World No. 2 golfer exhibited commendable skills at the Open Championship. While the majority of the field struggled in Scotland's harsh weather conditions, Schauffele made calculated shot decisions that paid off. He said that a win at the 2024 PGA Championship a few months earlier helped him gain confidence to win his second Major championship title this year. Schauffele said:

" It was a hard week; it was very difficult. I think winning the PGA Championship helped me a lot. I had some feeling of calmness come through. It was very helpful on what has been one of the hardest back nines I've ever played in a tournament. It’s amazing to win two majors in one year. It took me forever just to win one, and to have two now is something else. "
