Shane Lowry dropped his solo lead at the 2024 Open Championship following tough conditions during the penultimate round. The Irishman now sits tied for fourth place, one stroke behind the three leaders.

2019 Open Championship winner certainly doesn't seem to be letting his shortcomings from yesterday come in the way of achieving the second Major title of his career. Faced with 218 yards to the pin on the Royal Troon's par three fifth hole, Lowry stuck his tee shot to the front left side of the green.

Building on from confidence earned by a birdie on the previous hole, Shane Lowry went on to drain a 56 foot and 6 inch long putt to birdie the par three hole. The incredibly well read putt was executed with great pace to move him to one under par through five holes of the final round.

Shane Lowry had a mediocre start to the final round of the 2024 Open Championship. Having opened with pars on the first and second holes, he went on to bogey the par four third hole. However, the back-to-back birdies on the next two holes helped him move back into contention.

The PGA Tour star went on to par the par five sixth hole before further climbing up the leaderboard. Lowry birdied the seventh and eighth holes to move up to tie for fourth place, just one stroke behind the leaders.

Having earned his first and only Major title at the 2019 Open Championship, the PGA Tour star has his mind set on rewriting history to hail the prestigious Claret Jug trophy for the second time.
