Matt Fitzpatrick will represent Great Britain in the golf event of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Along with him, Tommy Fleetwood is the other golfer representing Great Britain at the Le Golf National. The men's golf event will begin on Thursday, August 1, and golfers are all set to take center stage.

The 29-year-old Matt Fitzpatrick feels being part of the Olympics is remarkable. He gave an interview to Sky Sports before round one and revealed his feelings about competing in this prestigious tournament (from 0:51).

"I don't see why you wouldn't get behind it, you know it's a chance to win an Olympic medal. The Olympics is once every four years you don't know how many you gonna get to do," the English golfer said.
"So I feel like even just being part of it is special in itself. But to win a gold medal or any medal is kind of a step above. So yeah, I definitely think it'll gain traction. And yes, it's probably an exciting time," Fitzpatrick concluded.

Even though Matt Fitzpatrick is competing in the Olympics for the first time, his teammate Tommy Fleetwood has represented his country in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Fleetwood finished T16 for the event and was never in contention to win a medal.

When will Matt Fitzpatrick tee off in the 2024 Paris Olympics?

Matt Fitzpatrick is paired with Collin Morikawa and the local boy Matthieu Pavon. This three-ball will begin its first round at 12:06 PM local time and 6:06 AM ET in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Their second round will start a bit earlier as they tee off at 10:11 AM local time and 4:11 AM ET.

Great Britain has won three medals in golf so far, with one gold, one silver, and one bronze. When golf came back as an Olympic sport after 112 years at the Rio Olympics in 2016, Great Britain's Justin Rose won the gold medal.

Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood will try their best to replicate that performance and get at least one medal for their country.
