Xander Schauffele commented on Australian golfer Adam Scott's less-than-stellar record at the Presidents Cup. Scott has participated in every edition of the biennial tournament since his debut in 2003 but has never found himself on the winning side. The International Team has struggled, having won only one edition of the tournament since its inception.
This week, both the International and USA teams will tee off for the Presidents Cup. Ahead of the tournament, during a press conference on Wednesday, September 25, Schauffele was asked about Scott and his back-to-back losses and if he felt bad for the Australian golfer. In response, Schauffele said (via ASAP Sports):
"I absolutely do not feel bad for Adam Scott. I like Adam Scott a lot, but I do not feel bad for him at all. I don't think any male out there feels bad for Adam Scott. I mean, no. For me, I'm stubborn, and the more I get knocked down, the harder I push back up. If I had lost 10 times in a row, I'd come back champing at the bit even harder than ever. I'm sure that's what they're doing," Schauffele said.
Notably, when Adam Scott made his debut for the International Team at the Presidents Cup in 2003, the team finished in a draw. Since then, they have lost all the editions of the tournament they participated in. In fact, the International Team has only won one edition of the Presidents Cup (1998).

Xander Schauffele and Adam Scott will both play for their teams in the Day 1 fourball matches of the 2024 Presidents Cup. Schauffele will team up with Tony Finau to take on Jason Day and Byeong Hun An of the International Team. They will start their game at 11:35 a.m. ET.
Adam Scott will partner with fellow Australian golfer Min Woo Lee. They will compete against the USA team's Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala, teeing off at 11:53 a.m. ET.
Regarding their odds, according to the PGA Tour, the USA team is favored to win in Schauffele's match with odds of -180, while Day and An have odds of +150. In Scott's match, the odds are also in favor of Team USA; Scott and Lee have odds of +114, while Morikawa and Theegala have odds of -135.
There will be five fourball matches on Thursday, September 26. Aside from these two matches, the other three include Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley facing Sungjae Im and Tom Kim, Wyndham Clark, and Keegan Bradley playing against Taylor Pendrith and Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns teeing up against Hideki Matsuyama and Corey Conners. The four-day tournament will conclude on Sunday, September 29.
