After criticizing the crowd's enthusiasm on the first day of the Presidents Cup, Adam Scott and his teammates praised their energy during the Friday foursomes. He also acknowledged that there wasn’t much for the crowd to cheer about on the opening day.
On Friday, September 27, Adam Scott and other International team members arrived at the Royal Montreal Golf Club under pressure after getting swept in Thursday's four-ball. However, the hosts made a remarkable comeback in the foursomes, avenging the first-day defeat by sweeping the session and tying the scoreline.
During the post-round interview, Scott reflected on the crowd's support at the Royal Montreal Golf Club on Day 2.
"We heard the crowd for sure," he said. "We got off to a good start, and the energy is there. We hear it again now. It's a nice feeling because yesterday was flat. We didn't give them too much to cheer about. But today hopefully this is the start of a great weekend."
For the uninitiated, players had expressed disappointment with the crowd's response during Thursday's fourball session. Tom Kim was quite open about this in the post-round press conference.
"I think it was a little too quiet today being on home soil," he said during the Thursday press conference. "I wish they would have helped us out a bit more, especially being in Canada. I know how much they love golf.
Local star Taylor Pendrith, who had earlier asked the Canadian crowd to get louder, was happy with their response.
"It was awesome, it really was," he said. "From the 1st tee, even when we were warming up on the range, there was tons of people there. We felt it today, felt the energy of the crowd. They were pulling for us, and it definitely helped everybody on the team."

Adam Scott was paired with Taylor Pendrith for the Friday foursome session. Both left their poor Day 1 performance behind and put on an impressive show to defeat Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala by 5&4.
Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im had already given the hosts a great start with a 7&6 win over Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele. Adam Scott and Pendrith carried the momentum forward and were 1-up by the fifth hole. The duo never lost the lead throughout the match and sealed the win with a par putt on the 14th.
The Scott-Pendrith duo will be back in action on Saturday, September 29, and will face Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa in the morning fourball session. The match is set to begin at 7:02 a.m. ET on Saturday.
