Robert MacIntyre was a key member of the Ryder Cup's European team in 2023. That team soundly defeated the USA, shellacking them at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club and cementing themselves as one of the great European sides in recent memory. They earned the right to celebrate, which they did on the team bus and elsewhere after the tournament concluded.

MacIntyre was videoed on the bus leading the team in a rousing song in celebration of what they'd just accomplished. There were some drinks involved and everyone in the video seemed to be enjoying themselves. MacIntyre seemed to be the happiest with what had transpired, leading the players in a rendition of The Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles).

Another Team Europe member who can be seen in the video is Rory McIlroy. Shane Lowry, Jon Rahm, and Tommy Fleetwood were some other teammates of Macintyre and McIlroy in 2023.

The video was shared again on July 15, on the Ryder Cup X (formerly Twitter) account several months removed from the Ryder Cup itself. Interestingly, this was just a day after MacIntyre earned his second PGA Tour win, at the Scottish Open.

MacIntyre had recently said jokingly that he'd never forgive McIlroy if he didn't go on to win a Scottish Open. Well, a year on from McIlroy's victory, MacIntyre was able to taste success at his home tournament.

Entering the 18th hole of the 2024 Scottish Open, MacIntyre needed to birdie to win and he did just that at the Genesis Scottish Open. He'd previously eagled the 16th hole which drew him into a tie for first. The Ryder Cup Europe page is seemingly honoring a stellar performance from one of its alumni.

Robert MacIntyre reflects on impressive win

Robert MacIntyre was poised to win the 2023 Scottish Open before Rory McIlroy played one of the most impressive shots of his career. Facing an intense wind, he hit a 202-yard shot that left him in prime position to win. It earned him a plaque and robbed MacIntyre.

This year, MacIntyre exorcised those demons with an impressive performance yet again. After the win, he said (via Golfweek):

“In my head I just kept saying to myself, this is what you do, Bob. I’ve done it.”

He added later:

“A lot of people might say, he doesn’t quite have this, he doesn’t quite have that, but I’ve got fight and that’s all I need."

Last year, McIlroy's comeback left MacIntyre stunned. This year, it was Adam Scott's turn to be left with a close loss after having the victory within his grasp. Scott said after the game:

“A shame to come up short but Bob did what he had to do to win. Eagle, par, birdie, that’s great stuff."

MacIntyre acknowledged that he got a little bit of luck with the rules when he made eagle on the 16th hole, but added that everyone needs some luck to win a golf tournament.
