Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 golfer, clinched the season-ending Tour Championship at the East Lake Golf Club on Sunday, September 1. The American golfer entered the FedEx Cup final event with a 10-under lead, as the tournament provides advantages by awarding stroke points based on players' rankings in the FedEx Cup standings.
Scheffler maintained his lead throughout the event, finally taking home the first Tour Championship trophy of his career, along with a whopping $25 million in prize money. He secured a marvelous four-stroke victory over Collin Morikawa after shooting a final round of 67.
He made a putt on the final hole to seal the win. The PGA Tour has shared a video of Scottie Scheffler celebrating his memorable victory after making the final putt at the East Lake Golf Club. He celebrated the win with his caddie while his wife Meredith cheered for him from the stands with their son Bennett.

With this victory, Scottie Scheffler became the first golfer since Tiger Woods in 2007 to win seven tournaments in one season on the PGA Tour. He previously won The Players Championship, The Masters, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial Tournament, the Travelers Championship, and the RBC Heritage. The 28-year-old also won gold at the Paris Olympics.
A look into Scottie Scheffler's performance at Tour Championship 2024
Scottie Scheffler started his campaign at the 2024 Tour Championship on August 29 with a bogey on the first hole. However, he quickly bounced back in the round and played some amazing shots.
Scheffler shot two birdies on the front nine of the first round and five on the back nine, finishing with a score of 6-under 65 to kick off the event. In the second round, he shot 5-under 66 with six birdies and one bogey.
Scottie Scheffler took the lead after the second round and maintained it even after the third round. He started the third round with a bogey on the first hole but added two birdies on the seventh and eighth holes. He shot four birdies on the back nine, finishing with 5-under 66.
In the final round, he carded 4-under 67 with five birdies, an eagle, and three bogeys. With a total score of 30-under, Scheffler finished four strokes ahead of Collin Morikawa.
Speaking of his win, Scheffler said (via ASAP Sports):
"If you can describe it in words, more power to you, because I don't think I can. It's been a long year. It's been a very fun year. I think emotionally right now I'm pretty drained. So I'm looking forward to going home and getting rest for a week or so before I start prepping for the Presidents Cup because that's a tournament that I really want us to go out there and win."
Scottie Scheffler has won seven tournaments and finished runner-up in two events in 2024. Additionally, he has 16 top-10 finishes out of the 19 events this season.
