Justin Rose is competing in the 2024 Open de France at the Le Golf National. He has made a great start to the event, as he is placed at T4 and has started his second round on a high note.

The British golfer holed out an eagle with an impressive chip shot from an awkward lie. Rose reached the greenside rough in two strokes but had an awkward stance as the ball was on the edge of the bunker. He had to stand inside the bunker with the ball above his feet.

The 44-year-old golfer did not falter as he made an excellent connection with a bump-and-run shot and got the ball inside the hole to score an eagle.

Rose carded his first eagle this week and will be hopeful of scoring a few more in the upcoming holes and rounds.

Justin Rose reflects on his bogey-free first round.

Justin Rose had an excellent start to his Open de France campaign as he remained bogey-free on day one and carded 67 to remain -4 for the day and event. In the post-round press conference after round one, the British golfer said he was off to a good start, and with preferred lies coming into play due to weather and golf course conditions, it made it slightly easier for golfers.

"Off to a good start today. A couple under early. Kind of made me -- actually, I really drove the ball well. Had the ball in hand. Obviously, any time on a day like today that you can have the ball in hand, clean it, prefer your lie, hit a lot of fairways, that can really really help," Rose said.

Rose competed in the morning session when the greens were smooth, and the British golfer believes the greens might get lumpier in the afternoon, making it slightly challenging.

"Greens early doors were smooth. I think that's going to be a challenge as the day goes on because they are so soft. Guys are going to kind of face slightly lumpier greens in the afternoon. So happy to make the most of the play and keep it bogey-free," Rose said.

In the second round so far, Rose has played seven holes. He has carded -3 for the day with an eagle on the third hole and a birdie on the sixth hole and is -7 for the event so far. The 44-year-old golfer will hope to maintain this momentum throughout this round and remain inside the top five going into the weekend.

Justin Rose is currently just two strokes behind the leader, Jesper Swensson, who has carded -9 and has completed 36 holes.
