WATCH: Defending champion Lucas Glover nails hole-in-one despite poor weather at the 2024 Wyndham Championship

US golfer Lucas Glover displayed a masterclass of golf swing after he nailed a hole-in-one at the ongoing 2024 Wyndham Championship at the Sedgefield Country Club.

The defending champion is currently placed T50 as Round 2 is going on. His start in the tournament was rather lacklustre with an even par-70 on day one, a bogey at 10th hole, and a par on the 11th hole. However, on day two, he produced something nobody expected on the 12th hole.

The tropical storm Derby had been causing several delays in the schedule, with the first round washed out due to it. Even when the event was ongoing, the weather conditions weren't great. Despite this, Lucas Glover hit a hole-in-one at par-3 12th hole. It was the first hole-in-one of the tournament.

Glover hit the shot from 189 yards and the ball took two tumbles before landing in the hole. The golfer high-fived his mates Keegan Bradley and Si Woo Kim after the incredible feat.

"Tour players play golf. Businessmen run business" - Lucas Glover

After Jimmy Dunne's resignation from the PGA Tour's policy board a few months back, Lucas Glover and long-time golf agent and co-host, Max Bernhardt, discussed the subject on their SiriusXM radio show.

Bernhardt said that while he might not know what's happening behind the scenes, Dunne was needed for the negotiations with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). However, according to Dunne's resignation letter, he had not been asked to negotiate with PIF since June 2023. This was a little after he had helped develop the framework agreement with PIF. He had given the lack of progress on a potential deal as the main reason for him to quit.

Glover commented saying that his remark might "irritate" his fellow golfers:

"I'm probably gonna irritate my peers and fellow tour players by saying what I'm about to say. but for a long time the players were outnumbered on the board, five to four. And a lot of players thought that it would never be our tour if we didn't have the majority. Well, I think we're seeing why it was that way now."

With Jimmy Dunne gone, the PGA Tour board now has six Tour players on the board comprising Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay, Webb Simpson and Peter Malnati. The board now has only four independent directors.

According to Golf Digest, Glover said that players shouldn't mix with business and vice versa:

"We (the players) have no business having the majority. Tour players play golf. Businessmen run business. They don't tell us how to hit 7 irons. We shouldn't be telling them how to run a business."

Previously, Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy had resigned from the board due to similar reasons as Jimmy Dunne citing a lack of progress. He was replaced by US golfer Jordan Spieth.

Glover further said that businessmen were needed on the board:

"People like Jimmy are now seeing this and they're now understanding that their vote actually doesn't count. The exact same way the players felt before we had the majority. Problem is we need those people because guess what? They went to school for business, not golf."

Glover added that they were losing the "most effective" people:

"We had an opportunity to get this done and it didn't get done. And now we're losing the people that are the most effective and already had it done, to be frank."

Well, things still seem to be a little up in the air with regards to what's really happening with the PGA Tour. However, for now, the golfing world has its eyes trained on the 2024 Wyndham Championship that will wrap up on August 11th, 2024.
