Bryson DeChambeau's performance at the 2024 U.S. Open has garnered the praise of fans from all over the world. It has also raised questions regarding his exclusion from the 2023 Ryder Cup team, which was captained by Zach Johnson.

The Ryder Cup US Team was permitted to have LIV Golf players as a part of their squad. 2023 PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka received a captain's pick to be a part of the team. However, Zach Johnson left out Bryson DeChambeau, a decision that was questioned by many. The US team suffered a humiliating defeat in Rome, with the European team taking victory with a score of 16.5–11.5.

Now, during the recent U.S. Open weekend, several fans came forward to question Johnson's choice of excluding Bryson DeChambeau from the team, given how well he has been performing.

"Zach Johnson did a poor job as US Ryder Cup Captain including leaving Bryson off the team," a fan wrote.
"Yes the Tour should be ashamed," another stated in agreement.
"Imagine not picking up the phone and having a conversation. ZJ should be sent to the moon," yet another fan wrote.

Some fans even accused Johnson of picking players based on his friendships. They cited the examples of DeChambeau's exclusion and Justin Thomas' inclusion.

"Agreed! Zach Johnson inviting JT was a joke! He just wanted a Europe vaca with his buddies," one fan pointed out.
"Zach picked all his buddies. Kegan Bradley sould have been picked as well," another fan wrote.
"Who is ZJ in competition with for "the worst"? He is the worst ever," another fan said, criticising Zach Johnson over his captaincy.
"It was a buddies trip. Bryson wasn’t a buddy," a fan stated.

Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy are at the top of the leaderboard going into the final day of the 2024 U.S. Open.

Bryson DeChambeau chases second U.S. Open victory

LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau is on the lookout for his second U.S. Open victory, having previously won in 2020. He will kickstart proceedings on day 4 with a 3 stroke lead over Rory McIlroy, Mattheiu Pavon, and Patrick Cantlay.

Speaking about the U.S. Open Pinehurst Course, which has been an extremely tough one for golfers to navigate, DeChambeau said (via SkySports):

"I gave it everything I had out there today. The crowd support has been fantastic. It's amazing. I can't thank them enough - and I'll continue to feed off of them. Tomorrow it's about fairways and greens and let's see if I can give them something special."

Rory McIlroy on the other hand, is searching for his first major victory in over a decade. Having come so close to winning the U.S. Open last year, McIlroy has put all his focus into performing his best this year.
