Tommy Fleetwood is a big fan of soccer. The Englishman is a lifelong supporter of the Premier League club Everton FC. The golfer from Southport in Merseyside, who has been vocal about his support for his local team, has received a special message from them after his Olympic medal win in Paris.

Fleetwood narrowly missed the gold medal at the 2024 Olympics as he fell short to World No.1 Scottie Scheffler in the final round. The 33-year-old, representing Great Britain in the summer games, came out with a silver medal. Following this, Everton FC took to their social media handle to laud their famous fan.

The club took to their social media handle to post pictures of Fleetwood from Le Golf National with the caption “Olympic silver medalist! Proud of you.” The golfer quickly responded to the gesture by thanking his team.

It is pertinent to note that Tommy Fleetwood is a proven fan of the Merseyside club. The European star has attended Everton’s games at Goodison Park on multiple occasions. Notably, the golfer once took the Ryder Cup trophy to the club’s game.

The PGA Tour star attended the English side’s match against Manchester City in December, where he walked to the center of the pitch holding the European team’s gold trophy while wearing Everton’s blue jersey. He received thunderous applause from the fans at the club’s Goodison Park stadium.

Tommy Fleetwood shares wholesome note after the Olympics

Fleetwood seemed defeated in Paris after his gold medal loss. The Great Britain player got into contention from round two and gave a tough fight till the final hole. He finished Sunday’s fourth round on five under, one short of the champion.

However, Fleetwood picked himself up quickly and addressed his silver medal attempt. The 33-year-old golfer left a heartwarming note on social media thanking his fans for the support and noted that he “couldn’t be prouder to contribute to Team Great Britain’s medal count.”

The Brit, who was a fan favorite in Paris over the weekend, claimed he was happy to share the podium with Scheffler and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama.

Tommy Fleetwood wrote on X after the men’s Olympics event:

“I honestly never had this as a dream as a kid but it definitely became one in recent years. Golf is a beautiful sport. The passion, the emotion and the energy felt out there today was magical thank you!!
I couldn’t be prouder to contribute to Team Great Britain’s medal count and represent the nation this week. Being on that podium with Scottie and Hideki will be a memory etched in my heart forever.”

It is pertinent to note that Tommy Fleetwood didn’t earn anything for his silver medal win at the Olympics as Great Britain doesn't pay its medalists.
