Tommy Fleetwood secured a silver medal for Great Britain at the ongoing Paris Olympics, held at the Le Golf National's Albatross Golf Course. He was selected to represent Great Britain along with Matt Fitzpatrick, but the latter withdrew from the event, citing injury. Fleetwood stepped up his game, securing a well-deserved podium finish.

Fleetwood has dedicated his silver medal to his family, his hometown of Southport, his country, and his fans. In a touching gesture, he shared a photo on his X account featuring his family and fellow medalists, accompanied by a heartfelt message expressing his gratitude.

The 33-year-old golfer also congratulated the gold medal winner, Scottie Scheffler, and bronze medalist Hideki Matsuyama.

"For my family. For Southport. For my country. For Team GB. For the incredible fans. Grateful for it all! Congratulations to Scottie, Hideki, and everyone who competed. Golf is a beautiful game and the Olympics is truly inspiring,!!" Fleetwood wrote.

Fleetwood's hometown of Southport has been gripped by turmoil following a knife attack at a dance class that claimed the lives of three girls. Widespread protests have erupted in the wake of the tragedy. Fleetwood dedicated his silver medal to his hometown as a show of support and solidarity.

A look at Tommy Fleetwood's performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Tommy Fleetwood entered the 2024 Paris Olympics as a strong contender to win gold, having previously triumphed at Le Golf National's Albatross Golf Course. He started his campaign on a decent note, carding a 67 to sit at -4 after the opening day.

The Englishman was four strokes behind the lead but picked up the pace in the second round as he carded -7 for the day to finish at -11 overall. This performance helped him become a co-leader along with Hideki Matsuyama and Xander Schauffele.

Fleetwood's momentum slowed down on Day 3 as he managed a -3 round, leaving him one stroke behind the newly crowned leader, Jon Rahm.

On the final day, the golfers at the top of the leaderboard struggled to perform under pressure, with Rahm and Schauffele losing the lead. Fleetwood, however, remained composed and continued to do well.

In fact, at one point in time, Fleetwood was leading the event and had his sights on the gold medal. Unfortunately for him, Scottie Scheffler played immaculate golf, especially on the back nine, as he carded -9 for the day and equaled the course record. He took the clubhouse lead, while Fleetwood was a stroke behind on the 15th hole.

The 33-year-old Fleetwood carded a birdie on the 16th hole to become a co-leader with two holes to play. However, his fortunes saw a change on the 17th, as a poor approach shot led to a costly bogey.

A birdie on the challenging 18th was Fleetwood's only hope of forcing a playoff with Scheffler. However, he could only manage a par, eventually winning the silver medal for Great Britain.
