Ludvig Aberg matched the course record set by BMW Championship leader Adam Scott on Friday. In the second round, Adam Scott shot 9-under-63 to set the course record, which was later matched by the Swedish golfer the same round after he carded a 63.
After matching Scott’s course record, Ludvig Aberg remarked on the Australian golfer's longevity in the sport and said that Adam had been an inspiration for him. He said (via "PGA Tour" on X):
“Adam for me is an inspiration. He's been there for a long time, and what he's doing with that longevity is amazing…It'll be fun to try to catch him this weekend,” Ludvig Aberg said.
Speaking to "SBNation" following his record-matching round, Ludvig Aberg revealed that he and his caddie discussed foreseeing a low score on Thursday, and expressed his happiness on carding a 63 shortly after.
“It was funny, me and [my caddie] Joe [Skovron], walking down one of the first couple of holes. We talked about it yesterday, too, that we could see a low one, and we were just fortunate that it was us today,” Aberg said.
Aberg further added that he'd try to catch up with Adam Scott with an 'aggressive' approach on the course.
“It’s fun to play good golf. I will keep being aggressive even though I shot even par yesterday. I was still very aggressive, which I like. But I will keep doing that and try to keep up and make a few birdies to catch Adam,” he added.
In the first round, Aberg finished with an even-par score with seven birdies, three bogeys, and two double bogeys. In the second round, Aberg managed to equal Scott’s course record with eight birdies and one eagle on hole 14.
Currently, Aberg is four shots behind the leader of Castle Pines and Keegan Bradley sits in second place, three shots behind the leader.

In the opening round, Adam Scott carded one birdie on the front nine along with a bogey, and in the back nine, he shot four birdies to settle the score at 68. In the next round, Scott birdied the first hole, followed by three more birdies on holes five, six, and eight In the next half of the second round, he scored five birdies to settle the score at 63 and set the course record.
After the round ended, Adam Scott's score stood at 13-under. Expressing his exaltation after clinching such a low score, Scott said (via "PGA Tour"):
“It's been a long time. I can't remember the last time I shot a 63 out here. But it feels good to go low, that I've still got that in me. Hopefully, there's one more this week,” Scott said.
Adam Scott will tee off at 11:35 am with Keegan Bradley for the third round of the BMW Championship on Saturday.
