Shane Lowry has named the toughest hole at the ongoing 2024 Olympics' men's golf competition at Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France. The men's event is scheduled from August 1 to 4, 2024.

The Irish golfer lost The Open Championship 2024 after being in contention for the first two rounds and will be looking to redeem himself at Paris 2024.

Lowry said about Le Golf National (via TeamIreland):

"It's Paris National, it's one of the great golf courses we've played over the years in the European Tour."

The annual Open de France tournament, a part of the European Tour, is held at the Le Golf National. Lowry further said:

"The finish there is as tough as it gets. The one thing I can say about it is, the Olympic medal won't be around your neck until you finish the 18th hole because there's a lot of trouble there and there's also a lot of opportunity to gain shots on the leaders."

The 7,174-yard course for the men's competition is par 71 and the 471-yard 18th is par 4. Water on the left and seven pot bunkers on the right make it a challenging hole, with the wind usually coming from the left-center to keep the ball from drifting into the water by providing resistance.

The green on the 18th hole is surrounded by water save for a bit of land it shares with the 15th, almost making it an island with the hazards in front and entirely behind it. However, a saving grace for golfers is the fact that it's the second largest green on the course.

Shane Lowry seemed optimistic and further said:

"It should make for a very exciting event. I'm hoping that I give people something to shout about on Sunday."

At the time of writing, Lowry was 1-under 30 in eight holes. He's tied at 32nd position on the field. His countryman Rory Mcllroy is tied at 20th with a score of 2-under 49 after 13 holes.

Shane Lowry says he has a chance to redeem himself in Paris

Shane Lowry finished 6th at The Open Championship 2024 with a score of 4-under 280. After two good rounds of 66 and 69, he scored 77 in the third. He rebounded with a 68 in the final round but it wasn't enough.

Lowry said (via Sky Sports):

"I felt I had a good chance to win The Open a couple of weeks ago and I was really disappointed to not give it a better go on Saturday and Sunday."

Lowry was one of the flag bearers at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. He said that it was an "amazing experience." He further said:

"Straightaway after that I sort of felt like I have a chance to redeem myself here in a couple of weeks."
