US golfer Sahith Theegala will be making his Presidents Cup debut at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada. He had been an automatic qualifier for the US team.

Theegala has had consistent performances ever since he joined the PGA Tour in the 2021-22 season. He placed T4 at the Tour Championship at East Lake and T7 at the ProCore Championship in Napa. He is often looked upon as a promising upcoming player and his performance at the 2024 Presidents Cup will be watched closely by fans across the world.

At the previous edition of the Presidents Cup, Jordan Spieth had emerged as the next big player on the horizon, much like the way Theegala has been looked upon this season. Spieth was out of play for the most part of this year owing to a wrist injury and didn't make the Presidents Cup team.

Recently, Sahith Theegala revealed that he would bring a "Spieth-like" game play to the US team at the Royal Montreal Club. Theegala said, via Underdog Golf:

"Nobody is going to be able to match that guy (Jordan Spieth). But just a little more creative ways to the green. I’m a scrambler… A little different flare for the team,"

The 26-year-old is currently ranked 11th in the world.

US golfer Sahith Theegala managed to qualify automatically for the 2024 Presidents Cup in just three short years of joining the PGA Tour. And while he mentioned that he wasn't a "big goal setter", getting to play the Presidents Cup was one his aims this year. And he acheived it with flying colours.

He talked about his selection, via Forbes:

"It’s a huge deal for me. I’m not a big goal setter or expectation haver but this is one of the few times where I laid out at the start of the year to my team, 'I want to make the Presidents Cup team',"

He further added what added "a little fuel" to his ambitions.

"I haven’t really had a lot of experience with team golf. I never made the Walker Cup. I never made the Junior Ryder Cup. So, that added a little fuel to get to this position,"

Getting selected for the Presidents Cup was his dream but he had laid down a few conditions on fulfilling it.

"Another thing I stated at the start of the year was, 'I don’t want to get picked, I want to make it on my own, on points' and that fired me up the whole year,"

The Presidents Cup will take place on 24-29 September 2024 at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
