With the Presidents Cup less than a month away, Team USA Captain Jim Furyk has been tasked with selecting six players for the event. While six names have already been finalized through automatic qualification, there is a lot of anticipation around the other six who will be picked by Furyk.
The Team USA Captain will make his announcement today and PGA Tour professional Russell Henley hopes Furyk paid attention to his Tour Championship round. In a press conference, after Round 4 of the Tour Championship, when Henley was asked if Furyk would pay attention to his round, the golfer answered:
"I hope so. Obviously a dream of mine to -- why I work so hard is to make one of these teams. Hopefully it works out."
The golfer was further asked if the next 24 to 36 hours would be stressful. Henley replied:
"Not really. I mean, obviously my main goal every time I play is just to play well. I played well here, played great today, as good a round as I could ask for, so I'm not too stressed about it."
Ahead of Round 4 of the Tour Championship, Russell Henley was tied for 13th place. However, a phenomenal round on Sunday saw him finish in 4th place. In Round 4, the American golfer shot 9-under 62 and set a new course record at the restored East Lake Golf Club in Atalanta, Georgia.

The 2024 season has been a good one for Russell Henley. While he could not win a single event this year, he registered seven top-10 finishes. The 35-year-old also had a decent outing at the ever-competitive 2024 Open Championship.
However, Henley's best performance this year arguably came in the final round of the Tour Championship. After this, he was asked what does he bring to Team USA for the upcoming Presidents Cup which will be held next month.
Henley replied:
"Just the fight. I definitely feel like athletically I don't have what a lot of these guys have in terms of distance and stuff. I always feel like I've been a grinder and a fighter, and I think I could definitely do that for the team."
The 2024 Presidents Cup will be played between 24 September and 29 September at The Royal Montreal Golf Club. It features some iconic names like Scottie Scheffler and Hideki Matsuyama who will represent the USA and International, respectively.
