PGA Tour board member Adam Scott has expressed hope that all players would play together soon. He said that he's optimistic that it could happen by 2026, but realistically, it might not occur before 2027.
Adam Scott was last seen competing at the BMW PGA Championship, where he tied for 57th. He's also part of the PGA Tour's Policy Board and is one of six PGA Tour player directors. Earlier this year, he also joined the PGA Tour subtransaction committee to engage in direct negotiation with PIF.
Recently, Adam Scott was interviewed by Golfweek, where he was asked where he sees the game in five years.
"I see it being stronger than ever," Scott said. "I think whether a deal is done with PlF or not, I see it in a good spot. The market will decide what it wants ultimately.
"The PGA Tour is still, for sure, the strongest platform, has the strongest players, and even with a competitive other tour out there, I still think that will be OK for pro golf. I think it's just a time of change and most people don't like that," he added.
Scott also provided a realistic and optimistic time for both circuits to come together.
"I'd just be throwing a year out there. Realistic 2027, optimistic '26," he said.
Apart from Scott, Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Spieth, Peter Malnati, and Webb Simpson are the PGA Tour Player Directors. The PGA Tour's subtransaction committee includes Woods and Rory McIlroy, alongside Scott.
What's next for Adam Scott?
Adam Scott will next compete at the 2024 Presidents Cup, which will take place from Friday, September 27, to Sunday, September 29, at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec, Canada.
Scott is set to represent the International Team in the biennial event for the 11th time. In 49 previous matches, he has an 18-25-6 record. Interestingly, he has never been a part of the winning team. His best result came in 2003 when the International Team tied with their US counterparts.
The International Team will feature Hideki Matsuyama, Sung-Jae Im, Tom Kim, Jason Day, Byeong-hun An, Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, Nick Taylor, Si-woo Kim, Min Woo Lee, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Mackenzie Hughes. Mike Weir will be the non-playing captain for the host team.
The US Team is led by Jim Furyk and features Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Sahith Theegala, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, Russell Henley, Keegan Bradley, Brian Harman, and Max Homa.
