Lee Westwood turned 50 last year, but he has no plans to retire anytime soon. However, being a realist, he has some post-retirement plans, including team management.
Westwood is one of the greatest players on the European Tour circuit, with 25 wins on the Tour. He now plays on the LIV Golf circuit and co-captains Majesticks GC alongside Ian Poulter and Henrik Stenson.
Lee Westwood recently appeared on LIV Golf's Fairway to Heaven podcast, hosted by Su-Ann Heng and Jerry Foltz. In the podcast, while discussing his 10-year plans, he said he would like to continue playing as long as he could remain competitive. He revealed that this is why he regularly hits the gym to stay fit and perform well on the golf course.
"But I'm a realist as well and at 51 you can't keep playing forever and you can't stay competitive forever," he continued. "I'm not going to at some point I'm going to not hit it far enough or I'll lose that drive to keep practicing and then I'll transfer into more of the management of the team and becoming a mentor.
"I see that somewhere in the future but who knows," he added. "You never know what's around the corner. You probably might ask me to come into the commentary box and spend a few hours in there."
Is Lee Westwood playing the International Series England?
Lee Westwood is not competing at the International Series England which features 16 of the LIV Golf professionals. He will be back in action at the LIV Golf Greenbrier which will take place from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18.
As of now, Westwood is placed 34th in the standings and recently registered a third-place finish at the Nashville. His team, Majesticks GC is placed ninth in the team standings.
