Jordan Spieth reveals his projected return date, gives updates on his injury

Jordan Spieth underwent surgery to resolve his wrist injury last month. The 31-year-old, who had complained of issues for several months, went straight into the treatment after his season ended at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Following this, the golfer has now come out to reveal that he will be ready for the new season by January 1, 2025.

Spieth made his first public appearance after the surgery on Monday when he attended a charity event in Dallas. Speaking at the event, the 2015 Masters champion said his goal is ‘to be tournament-ready’ by the new year. The 13-time PGA Tour winner added that he won’t be happy testing the waters by then and would rather want his game to be at the ‘ceiling’ by then.

The golfer further said that he’ll soon begin light practice and use his time off to get into pace before making the big comeback.

Discussing his potential comeback, Jordan Spieth said, as quoted by Golfweek:

“I think that by 2025, by Jan. 1, it’s my goal to be tournament-ready. And for me, that would be not just going out and seeing how it feels, you know, but expecting to play at my ceiling. I’ll have an opportunity to work really hard on my short game before I can even swing.

"I should be able to get back to that work pretty soon and hopefully get that really dialed so that I can then prioritize getting back to hitting balls and then eventually playing so I don’t know how long that’ll take because again, like I mentioned before, it kind of depends on how quickly the mobility and the strength comes back, but given my age and the way it’s progressed so far, those our advantages to this recovering. And it’s not uncommon.”

Notably, Jordan Spieth added that he’s communicating with “six or eight other professional golfers, a few tennis players, a few baseball players that have all had similar surgeries.” The ace golfer said he’s using their experiences as well to work on his comeback. He admitted to having some concerns of losing his older game and added he would wait until “it feels the same” to come back and play.

How does Jordan Spieth spend his recovery time?

Jordan Spieth had the surgery in Colorado. The golfer noted that he stayed there for a few weeks and has only been back home for a bit. He noted being busy with his children in the meantime. The golfer, who has a three and a one-year-old, said he’s been busy with them.

Despite looking forward to a strong return, Spieth dubbed the recovery time a ‘unique opportunity’ to ‘embrace home.’

Replying to a media query on what he’s been up to, Jordan Spieth said:

“I have 3 and a 1-year-old. So that’s what I’ve been doing. You’d think, you know, what are you doing with all this time? Is it driving you crazy? Those are the questions I’ve gotten and I’ve had like one or two days where I’ve turned the TV on before 8 p.m. I mean, it’s just busy. I don’t know why, or how or what with, but I’m busy.

"I’m loving being a dad. It’s cool to have this time during the day with my kids too, you know. I can do half of what I can normally do. You know, I’ve gotta pawn off the diaper changing and some of the some of the stuff that obviously requires two hands. But it’s a unique opportunity right now, and I’m kind of embracing being home.”

Jordan Spieth went on to note that the actions he can do have become limited. Interestingly, the golfer admitted to not being able to change his kids’ diapers as it requires two hands. The PGA Tour star stated that he now has new found respect for moms and single parents as raising two kids has been ‘tough work.’

However, he eventually dubbed it the “most rewarding work” that there is.
