After calling the TPC Deere Run one of the easiest golf courses out there, Jordan Spieth fired an eight-under 63 in the third round of the John Deere Classic. This was his lowest round of the season.
On Saturday, July 6, Spieth entered the TPC Deere Run at 6-under ahead of the third round. He started with six birdies on the front nine that included five straight from hole 4 to hole 8. On the back nine, he added three more birdies with the only bogey of the day coming on the par 4, 13th.
Earlier on Friday, Spieth had referred to the TPC Deere Run as one of the easiest golf courses.
"It’s one of the probably bottom-half easier golf courses," he said post the second round. "It’s a great golf course. When it’s soft it’s one of the easiest ones we play.
"Yeah, I can make a move, but everyone is going to make a move. So I will try and beat the field average by four or five shots, but that is going to take shooting 8- or 9-under."
The three-time Major champion has a great record at the TPC Deere Run. He has won here twice in four starts and has shot above 70 only once in the 17 rounds he has played till now.
Following the third round, Spieth is now tied for 12th at 14-under. However, he is still seven shots behind the leader Davis Thompson. Thompson took the 54-hole lead after shooting 62. Eric Cole and Aaron Rai are two shots back after shooting 64 and 66 respectively.

Jordan Spieth is grouped with Sami Valimaki and Rico Hoey for the final round of the John Deere Classic. The trio will tee off on Sunday, July 7, at 12:05 PM ET from the first hole for the tournament's fourth round.
The final round of the John Deere Classic will resume on Sunday at 10:25 AM ET. Tee times for Sunday have been adjusted to split tees due to the inclement weather forecast. Sam Stevens, Robby Shelton, and Zach Johnson will tee off first from the first hole at 10:25 AM ET. Simultaneously, Adam Svensson, Hayden Buckley, and David Lipsky will resume from the tenth tee.
Jordan Spieth is aiming for his first win in two seasons. Notably, he hasn't won since the 2022 RBC Heritage. Although closing the seven-hole gap won't be easy, another low round might help him make his first top-10 finish in three months.
