Jordan Spieth recently underwent surgery to treat the injury that has been affecting his left wrist since 2017. Spieth himself broke the news on his official X account.

A few days later, Spieth provided an update on his situation. The three-time Major champion sat down with Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz for Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio and said during the interview that he expects to be back at full strength in four to five months.

"I'm not blaming everything on it, but there was something there that just made me not me. And so hopefully I come back from this and I just don't have to think about it," he said.

This was part of what Jordan Spieth had to say (via Golf.com):

"I know that may not be the case the first few months I get back into it, but from what I hear, I talked to a lot of different players who've had similar operations and a lot of guys across different sports and they're like, 'look, one day you'll wake up and you'll just... if you're patient enough, you do the right rehab, you listen to your docs and you take your time, there'll be one day where you wake up and you're like, man, I just totally forgot that there was ever an issue'".
"So, I look forward to that day. I don't know when it'll be, but I imagine hopefully that'll be within the next four or five months and then I get back to being me."

During the interview, Spieth also revealed that he first injured his wrist in 2017 while working out in the gym. At the time, it was not treated in any way and he dealt with the problem until May 2023, when he re-injured it while playing in the pool with his son.

Later, Spieth aggravated the injury in the fall after the Ryder Cup. Finally, during the second round of the John Deere Classic in 2024, he had problems with his wrist again.

When is Jordan Spieth expected to return?

Jordan Spieth's projected timetable puts his return around January 2025. Spieth secured his PGA Tour card for next season by finishing 66th in the FedEx Cup standings.

However, he is not qualified for The Sentry and could only play the Plantation Course if he receives a sponsor's exemption. Otherwise, the earliest he could return to competitive play would be at the Sony Open in Hawaii, January 9-12.

With Spieth needing to earn as many FedEx Cup points as possible to qualify for the Signature events, he is likely to play the American Express and Farmers Insurance Open, which precede the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

However, his schedule will depend on his recovery. If the process takes longer than expected, his return could take a few more weeks to be ready for the Masters Tournament, the first Major of the season.
