Jordan Spieth wrapped up his 2024 season after playing in the FedEx St. Jude Championship and finishing 67th in the FedEx Cup standings. Following that event, Spieth announced that he would undergo surgery to treat a long-standing injury to his left wrist.

Spieth followed through with his plan and underwent surgery last week. This Saturday, August 31, the player posted an update on his health on his personal X account:

"I had a procedure on my left wrist last week, as I had mentioned was the plan. The operation went smoothly and I’m grateful for the exceptional medical team and support of Annie and my family."
"Focused on rest and rehab, and I look forward to returning to golf healthy and prepared for 2025!"

Less than two weeks ago, specifically after finishing the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Jordan Spieth spoke about his need to undergo surgery and said the following (via CNN):

"I’ve got to have it [the wrist] operated on ASAP, and then I’ll go through the process of what I’m supposed to do from there."

Jordan Spieth has been dealing with this wrist injury since the 2023 PGA Championship. He played through it for the rest of the season, but it got worse during the off-season.

The palliative treatments only partially worked, and while he was able to play the full 2024 season, he was unable to remain a top player on the PGA Tour. For this reason, he decided to follow medical advice and undergo surgery.

Jordan Spieth's 2024 Season Overview

Jordan Spieth started 2024 very well with two top 10s in his first three events (T3 at The Sentry and T6 at the Phoenix Open). Trouble was not far behind.

His first stumble of the season came at the Genesis Invitational, where he was disqualified when he signed an incorrect scorecard after the second round. Spieth signed for a 3 when he actually shot a 4 on the 4th hole at Riviera.

He was cut three times in the next five events, including at the Masters, the first Major of the season. He also had his third and final top 10 of the year (T10, Valero Texas Open).

After the Masters, he played 12 events and made eight cuts. He had some interesting performances, such as a T25 at the Open Championship, but that was his only Top 25 of the period.

Spieth's season is summed up in 22 events with 14 cuts and three top 10s. He earned $2.7 million and is ranked 44th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Spieth began his professional career in 2012. He has won 13 PGA Tour events, including three Major championships. He won the 2015 FedEx Cup.
