After a tough start in the first round of the 2024 John Deere Classic, Jordan Spieth bounced back in the second round and is now dominating in the third round. The American golfer has won this PGA Tour event twice in his career and is in contention to do it again.

Jordan Spieth started the third round of the 2024 John Deere Classic with a par on the first hole. He shot a birdie on the second hole, followed by another par on the third. He then shot five consecutive birdies from holes four to eight, making a tremendous jump on the leaderboard. At the time of writing, Spieth had climbed 46 spots on the leaderboard with just 12 holes on Saturday.

Spieth has struggled in the last few tournaments this season but now seems to be back to his best. The American has been fabulous at the John Deere Classic. Interestingly, the tournament has been full of surprises so far.

Before Spieth’s performance, Hayden Springer shone in the opening round of the PGA Tour event by shooting one of the lowest rounds, a 59, taking the lead in the game. However, Springer struggled in the second round and shot a 71, tying for fourth place after.

Spieth had a rough start at the 2024 John Deere Classic. He teed it up on the tenth hole and shot a bogey on the 11th. However, the American tried to bounce back with two birdies on the front nine and shot two more birdies on the back nine and a bogey to score 2-under 69. At the end of the first round, he finished ten strokes behind the opening-round leader.

However, things turned in Spieth's favour in the second round, as he shot four birdies on the front nine. He added two bogeys on the 11th and 12th holes and two more birdies on the back nine to score 4-under 67.

His best performance, however, came in the third round on Saturday, July 6. He shot six birdies on the front nine, one on the back nine, and is yet to complete the round.

Spieth has played in 17 tournaments this season and made the cut in 11. He recorded three top-10 finishes. He last played at the Travelers Championship and tied for 63rd place.

It is important to note that the John Deere Classic was the first PGA Tour event Spieth had won. He won the event in 2013 by defeating David Hearn and Zach Johnson in a playoff. He claimed the title again in 2015, defeating Tom Gillis in a playoff.

Jordan Spieth last won a PGA Tour event in 2022 and is now looking to end his two-year wait this week.
