Max Homa said he was 'super stoked' to get a call from US captain Jim Furyk

Max Homa didn't automatically qualify for the Presidents Cup. He was picked by the US team captain for the 2024 Presidents Cup, Jim Furyk. In the pre-tournament press conference, Homa was asked about his mindset when he was picked for the Presidents Cup.

Max Homa said he kept a tab on the FedExCup standings regularly before the playoffs. He said he was ranked 12th when he checked the standings after the FedEx St. Jude Championship and BMW Championship and didn't know if he would make the team. He further said (via ASAP Sports):

"And then yeah, I had talked to Jim about it. To be honest I was looking for a yes or a no which I didn't get because I would have liked to start my off-season or if not I would like to know I was working towards something. But obviously, yeah, super stoked when he did call. I'd say practicing just in case I got the call," he said.

Homa would be playing his second Presidents Cup. He played in 2022 where he won all four matches. When asked what advice he would give his younger self if he could go back to his maiden Presidents Cup appearance. He said:

"I don't know, I would probably keep my mouth shut because I've done pretty good in these things. I'd say just keep doing what you're doing," Max Homa said.

Max Homa and Brian Harman will compete against Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Jason Day in the foursome match on Friday, September 27 at 1:33 PM ET.
