Scottie Scheffler claimed the gold medal in the men's golf competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics, held at Le Golf National. The American golfer delivered a flawless final round, carding a bogey-free 62 to secure a one-stroke victory over Tommy Fleetwood.

After carding rounds of 67, 69, and 69 in the first three rounds, Scheffler was tied for sixth with a score of -10. He was four shots behind leaders Xander Schauffele and Jon Rahm. However, Scheffler notched nine birdies in the final round to win his first Olympic Gold medal.

Scheffler became the second consecutive American to win the tournament, following in the footsteps of Xander Schauffele, who won gold in Tokyo. Overwhelmed with emotion, the 28-year-old displayed immense patriotism during the playing of the American national anthem on the podium. This victory also awarded Scheffler 50 Official World Golf Ranking points.

British Golfer Tommy Fleetwood won the silver medal while Japanese golfer Hideki Matsuyama took home the bronze medal.

Fleetwood was a strong contender throughout the final round, sharing the lead until the 16th hole. However, an unfortunate bogey on the par-4 fifth cost him the gold medal. Had he won, he would have become the second British golfer to win an Olympic medal after Justin Rose, who achieved the feat at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Meanwhile, Matsuyama became the first Japanese golfer to win a medal for his country in men's golf. Mone Inami won the silver medal in women's golf in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
