Davis Thompson turned professional in 2021 and currently plays on the PGA Tour. The American is yet to win a trophy on the PGA Tour but has triumphed at the Korn Ferry Tour’s 2022 Rex Hospital Open. In the event, Thompson scored 64, 66, 68, and 69 over the four days. His total stood at 17-under 267. Also, his victory came as a one-shot lead over Vincent Norrman and Andrew Yun.

This was David Thompson's only victory in his professional career. In his Amateur career, Thompson won the NCAA Regionals twice, first in 2019 and then in 2021. His remarkable performance helped him reach World No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings in 2020 and 2021.

As far as his record at the majors is concerned, he participated in the 2020 US Open but couldn't make it through the cutline. Next, he played at the 2023 PGA Championship and the US Open. In the PGA Championship, he scored 77 and 69. In the US Open, he scored 3-over par. In both events, he couldn't make it through the cutline.

However, at the 2024 US Open, Davis Thompson swung brilliantly to have a top-ten finish. He stood at T9 with 2-under.


Davis Thompson’s 2024 golf season so far

David Thompson started his year with the Sony Open and scored 73, 65, 69, and 67 in the event. He finished at T57. Next, he participated at the American Express, where he stood at 20-under 268. In the same month, he also appeared at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he missed the cutline.

In February, Davis Thompson participated at the Phoenix Open, where he scored 69, 67, 70, and 67 to finish at 11-under 273. His position was T15 in the event. In the same month, he played at the Mexico Open and the Cognizant Classic, where he scored 9-under 275 and 6-under 278, respectively. He finished at T24 at the Mexico Open and T47 at the Cognizant Classic.

Then, Davis Thompson missed two consecutive cuts at the Players Championship and Valspar Championship. Following that, he participated at the Texas Children's Houston Open, where he finished at T21 with 68-72-68-66. Then, he played at the Valero Texas Open and landed at T45.

After an average performance at the previous event, he bounced back with the Corales Puntacana Championship, where he finished at T18. His score was 12-under 276. Then, Davis Thompson missed the cut at the CJ Cup. After that, he played at the Myrtle Beach Classic and Charles Schwab Challenge. In both the tournaments, he secured a top-twenty finish.

Following that, Davis Thompson missed the cut at the RBC Canadian Open. In June, he appeared in three events, the Memorial Tournament, the US Open, and the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where he finished at T27, T9 and T2, respectively. Currently, he's playing at the John Deere Classic, where he sits atop the leaderboard.
