LIV Golf was not exempt from the Olympics. Despite their controversial status, the golfers on that circuit could compete in Paris as long as they qualified. As was the case with Bryson DeChambeau, qualifying was hard since their events don't receive points and only a maximum of four players per country could take part. But LIV Golf players had the chance to play in the event.

Several did attend, and a lot of them put on incredible efforts throughout the week in Paris. It functioned exactly like a standard golf tournament, although the mix of DP World Tour, LIV Golf, and PGA Tour players made it feel like a major championship that has all three leagues represented.

How LIV Golf players fared at 2024 Olympic Games

Here's a look at how the players from LIV Golf performed at the Paris Olympics:

  • T5: Jon Rahm, -15
  • T9: Joaquin Niemann, -12
  • T26: Carlos Ortiz, -5
  • T35: Abraham Ancer, -2
  • T40: David Puig, -1
  • T45: Mito Pereira, +1
  • T49: Adrian Meronk, +3

Jon Rahm fared the best out of all LIV players, putting in one of the best overall performances. He narrowly missed out on winning an Olympic medal for the first time in his career. Rahm had been one of the most decorated and exciting players to watch before he left the PGA Tour. However, it hasn't been a great season for him to date.

He did finish T7 at The Open Championship. Rahm also won his first LIV tournament last week, and now has this outing at the Olympics, which puts a positive spin on what has otherwise been a surprisingly disappointing year.

At least for the time being, it does quell some doubts about his move. He previously admitted that it had been a tough year for his family, but he broke through in a big way at Le Golf National and nearly took home a medal for Spain.

Joaquin Niemann briefly spent some time near the top of the leaderboard, but the Chilean golfer did well overall. Carlos Ortiz had a decent outing for Mexico. Italian Abraham Ancer finished at two under. David Puig, despite a four-over final round, also finished under par (-1). Adrian Meronk (+3) was last among LIV players.
