Windy gusts at the Shriners Children's Open troubled golfers on Friday and play was delayed by four hours due to the weather conditions. Out of these four hours, the event was paused for two hours, and play suspension was extended another two hours.

The PGA Tour's X page uploaded a video of the extreme weather conditions in Las Vegas ( also known as Sin City). The video displayed a golf ball rolling away due to extreme winds and passing the flagstick, bending back due to the gusts. The post carried a caption that read:

“Sin City is turning into the Windy City,” the poster wrote.

PGA Tour referee Stephen Cox confirmed to the Golf Digest that due to safety concerns for operational staff, volunteers, audience, and everyone, the suspension was declared. Fan attendance at the TPC Summerlin was prohibited.

The second round of the Shriners Children's Open began at 10:55 am PT and this message was communicated by the PGA Tour Communications’ X page. They also stated that the hospitality tickets for Friday would be honored on Saturday.

The windy gusts at TPC Summerlin had a speed of 50 MPH on Friday. The gusts will be around 10-15 MPH on Saturday.

Taylor Pendrith is leading the Shriners Children's Open following a second-round halt

The first half of the Shriners Children's Open second round was delayed due to gusty winds by four hours. Later, when it resumed, Taylor Pendrith couldn't finish twelve holes on day two due to darkness. The play will resume on Saturday at 10:15 am ET.

Temporarily Pendrith is sitting atop the leaderboard with 10 under and the second place was sealed by Rico Hoey. Pendrith dropped 10 birdies in the first round to finish at 61. He played only 6 holes in the second round and scored one birdie on hole 2.

After the second round, Pendrith joined a press conference and talked about his round two experience from the Shriners Children's Open ( via ASAP Sports).

“Not recently. Feels like I haven't really played in super strong winds. I guess I'm thinking back to Bermuda two or three years ago when it was blowing 60 and it was brutally tough. I think the wave difference was quite high,” Taylor Pendrith said.
He added, “I'm sure it's going to be similar this week. We had zero wind yesterday. Yeah, haven't played much in the wind. Coming off two weeks off there was some shots I was definitely uncomfortable.”

Taylor Pendrith was asked in the same press conference to talk about his thoughts on finishing round two's 12 holes along with round three's 18 holes. In response, Pendrith talked about his willingness to finish the last 12 holes strong along with the third round.
