Webb Simpson's wife Taylor Dowd Simpson is gearing up to caddie for her husband at the 2024 Wyndham Championship. The 85th edition of the tournament will be played at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Dowd earlier caddied for Webb at the three practice rounds at Augusta National Golf Club at Masters. Webb and Dowd got married in 2010 and have five children. Talking about her wife caddying up for her, Webb said (via PGA Tour):

"It's our first week. She caddied at Augusta three practice rounds before, but never in the actual tournament, so this is her first go."

Talking about her preparation for the tournament as a caddie, Webb said:

"I've been reciting all of the things that a caddie does every night before I go to bed. So it's now just a matter of taking what I know and putting it into practice. You stay still, you keep quiet, don't step in anyone's line, and never pick up the ball."

Ahead of the Championship, Dowd said that his golfer husband wouldn't ask her for any numbers as she's not good with math and struggles with basic addition or subtraction. She also joked about not knowing what a yard is. She hoped:

"I'm really hoping he doesn't get in any bunkers. I don't want to rake too many of those."

This will be Webb Simpson's 370th start on the PGA Tour. He'll look to win the tournament for any chance to make the FedExCup playoffs. Of the 369 starts, he has made cuts in 279 of them. He has seven tour wins, 11 runner-ups, 45 top-5 and 84 top-10 finishes.

One of his most notable wins came at the 2012 US Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco where he won by one stroke over Graeme McDowell and Michael Thompson. As per the PGA Tour's website, he has made $45,719,028 on the Tour.

A look at Webb Simpson's performance in Wyndham Championship and 2024

Wyndham Championship has a special place in Webb Simpson's heart. He won his first PGA Tour victory at the 2011 Wyndham Championship. He won by three strokes over George McNeill. Given its importance, he has also named his third child as 'Wyndham Rose'.

Webb was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. Talking about his love for the tournament, Webb Simpson said (via PGA Tour):

"This feels like another home tournament for me. I grew up an hour and a half down the road, and my family all live in North Carolina. Then I went to Wake Forest University 30 minutes down the road. A lot of flashbacks happen this week, just of junior golf, my development in high school and then in college."

Webb Simpson has a tremendous record at the tournament. In his last 14 starts at the Wyndham Championship, he has one win, seven top-5 finishes and 10 top-10 finishes.
